Beautiful Bread!

Sports Day was fun on Friday! The sun was shining and everyone enjoyed taking part and watching the various races. The picnic afterwards was lovely too!
In Numeracy this week we looked at area and perimeter. The children found the area of irregular shapes…leaves!
In Literacy Year 5 visited Reception, Year 1 and 2 to show them the toys and games that they made. The children were very impressed with them. Some were inspired by famous children’s books; ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’, ‘Funny Bones’, The Mr Men books… Mrs Sandhu and Miss Hanefey were very impressed with the imagination and enthusiasm of Year 5 during this unit of work.
In D&T Food we learnt how to make dough. Next week Year 5 will work in groups of three to bake a loaf of bread. They will all follow the same recipe. We will provide all the ingredients but if they would like to add flavour or texture to their bread, they can bring in seeds or raisins or herbs on Wednesday.
We hope you like the photos!

Busy week!

What a busy week....! Class and Sports photos on Tuesday, smoothy tasting at lunch time on Wednesday, Thanksgiving Mass on Thursday....
We have some lovely photos of the year 5s working hard during RE and Literacy this week. In RE we read a story about a brother and sister causing their mum to worry when they got back late from school...they had got off the bus in town to buy their mum a birthday present! The year 5s got into groups of three and role played the story. They love to act! The role plays were very funny...Abi was a rather scary mum! The class then did a hot seat activity asking the three characters what they thought and felt about the situation. The year 5s discussed what freedoms and responsibilities they have.
On Friday it was non-uniform day so there are photos of the children looking stylish while they continue to work in their groups to finish the pitch they have written! They will present them to the class on Monday. Each pitch will be filmed so that the class can evaluate and give feedback. We are really impressed with their ideas for games and toys for children!
Well done to Harry for getting the Golden Moment for this months value of 'Teamwork'! Well done to Isabel for getting the Meerkat learner for showing lots of motivation this week!

Next Wednesday we will be baking bread in D&T Food, so remember your aprons please. The girls need to have their hair tied back for good hygiene. On Friday Sports Day starts at 10.30am. Remember to bring a bottle of water and a t-shirt that is your house colour!

Have a great weekend!
