week commencing 26.01.15

On Tuesday, the children took part in a debate as part of our topic ‘discussion texts’. The children were split into four groups, each group debating a different topic. The topics were, ‘school uniforms should be banned in school’, ‘junk food should be banned in school’, ‘homework should be banned in school’ and ‘mobile phones should be allowed in class’. In these groups, they had to split themselves into arguing ‘for’ or ‘against’. At the end of each debate, the floor was opened for the other children to ask questions. Then a vote was cast. All of the children were absolutely fantastic and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Here are some pictures of them in action!

Year 5 have been lucky enough to have a representative from Active Luton coming in to team teach gymnastics. After learning different methods of travel and balances last term, the children have enjoyed putting these into sequences using apparatus.
